Date of Event:  Wed, 10/29/2008 (All day) - Thu, 10/30/2008 (All day)
Location: McNamara Alumni Center

The Architecture and Integration Summit hosted by the Integration Consortium and the University of Minnesota is taking place at the McNamara Alumni Center on October 29th and 30th. The theme of the conference is Architecture Innovation and Middleware Evolution and features top speakers from around the world. Day one of the event features full day workshops while day two offers 2 keynotes, 12 presentations separated into 4 specialty tracks, and a panel debate on SOA versus REST. The event concludes with a cocktail reception hosted by event sponsors in the Solutions Hall at the McNamara Alumni Center from 5pm-7pm.

The opening keynote is by Roy Fielding on the topic “The Web as Integration Architecture”. Dr. Fielding is chief scientist at Day Software but is best known for his work in developing the modern World Wide Web infrastructure, defining the REST architectural style, and pioneering open source software development. He is the primary architect of the current Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP/1.1), coauthor of the Internet standards for HTTP and Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), a founder of several open-source software projects, and former chairman of the Apache Software Foundation (a nonprofit charity).

Another major highlight is the afternoon keynote lead by Informatica and featuring “Cloud Computing & Cloud Integration”. Participating in the presentation will be Salesforce.com and Amazon.com. One of the hot new architectures climbing the technology hype cycle is Application Platform as a Service (APaaS). This presentation will explore the promise of APaaS and the present day reality. The presenters from Informatica, Salesforce.com and Amazon.com will provide a broad overview of cloud computing; what it is and what it means for business leaders, architects, and system integrators. They will discuss the challenges, such as data fragmentation and information security, and solutions that are available to address them. They will also provide an overview of their respective offerings including real-life case studies. Finally, the keynote presentation will conclude with live cloud integration demo showing how salesforce.com can be integrated with Amazon Web Services using Informatica On-demand.
